Chapter 124 My Handsome Husband in a Lab Suit
Chapter 124 My Handsome Husband in a Lab Suit
After Bai Rongbei finished speaking, he blew out the lamp and lay down beside her.
In the darkness, neither of them spoke.
Su Wanwan had her back to him, her heart still pounding.
She could feel the man's body temperature behind her, transmitted through the thin blanket.
After a while, Bai Rongbei reached out from behind and gently placed his hand on her waist.
Su Wanwan stiffened for a moment, and only relaxed after sensing that the other person was not moving. She closed her eyes, listened to the even breathing behind her, and slowly fell asleep.
Early the next morning.
The sunlight streamed in through the window, dazzlingly bright.
Lin Weiwei opened her eyes with a frown, feeling a little sore all over. Looking down, she saw several light red marks on her collarbone and chest.
"Bai Si'an!" She sat up, tugged at her collar and looked again, then turned away angrily.
Bai Si'an was already awake, leaning against the headboard, his upper body bare, with the blanket loosely draped around his waist.
The morning light fell on him, outlining his clearly defined muscles.
He adjusted his glasses and looked at her: "Hmm?"
"How dare you!" Lin Weiwei pointed to her neck. "Look at this! How am I supposed to go out like this? You said it would just be one kiss, but is this even a kiss? You've given me a kiss here and a kiss there!"
Bai Si'an looked in the direction she pointed and said calmly, "You didn't object when I kissed you."
"Me." Lin Weiwei choked.
She didn't object at the time, mainly because she was so dizzy from his kisses that she forgot.
"And," Baisian added slowly, "you kissed me quite a bit last night too."
Lin Weiwei was stunned for a moment, then her face flushed red: "When did I kiss you?!"
"The back of my neck." Bai Si'an turned to the side, showing her the back of her neck near her shoulder blade; sure enough, there was a faint mark. "You bit me."
Lin Weiwei: "..."
She vaguely remembered... he kissed her so comfortably that, in her dazed state, she thought she did lean in and take a bite...
"You started it!" she snapped, forcing herself to stay calm, throwing back the covers and getting out of bed. "I'm not talking to you anymore, I'm going to work!"
Her feet had barely touched the ground when her legs buckled and she almost lost her balance.
Bai Si'an reached out and helped her up.
Lin Weiwei shook off his hand, her face flushed as she glared at him: "It's all your fault!"
"Yes, it's my fault," Bai Si'an replied good-naturedly, and got up to put on his clothes.
Lin Weiwei hurriedly went back to her room to change her clothes. When she came out, she saw Su Wanwan coming out of Bai Rongbei's room.
Su Wanwan's hair was a little messy, and she looked like she had just woken up; her eyes were still a little dazed.
Lin Weiwei's eyes lit up, and she leaned closer: "Wanwan! You... slept in Commander Bai's room last night?"
Su Wanwan was startled, her face flushed red, and she quickly waved her hands: "No! I went to apply the medicine to him, but I got too sleepy and accidentally fell asleep..."
"Oh," Lin Weiwei drawled, winking, "applying medicine. Apply it thoroughly, and as you apply it, it'll..."
"Lin Weiwei!" Su Wanwan's ears turned red, and she reached out to cover her mouth.
Lin Wei smiled and dodged, "Okay, okay, I won't say anything more. But this is a good thing, look how open I am, I slept with Bai Si'an last night."
Su Wanwan couldn't do anything with her, so she pulled her to wash up: "Hurry up, we're going to be late."
After the two finished packing, Bai Rongbei and Bai Si'an were also ready. The four of them went out together and parted ways at the fork in the road.
Su Wanwan went to the performing arts troupe, while Lin Weiwei went straight to the propaganda department.
The atmosphere in the publicity department is a little different today.
As soon as Lin Weiwei entered the room, she saw the section chief, Officer Wu, Xiao Zhang, and Xiao Wang all gathered together looking at something.
Gu Lin was also standing to the side, her expression not looking good.
"Comrade Lin is here?" The section chief looked up, saw her, and waved. "Perfect timing, I have a task for you."
Lin Weiwei walked over.
The section chief pointed to a document spread out on the table: "The division needs to compile a batch of technical achievements to report to higher authorities. The technical office has submitted several projects that require illustrations and explanations. Our section is in charge of this. You can draw them; you'll handle this task."
Lin Weiwei took the documents and glanced at them. They were brief introductions to some technical projects, such as "Improvement of Windbreak and Sand-Fixing Vegetation in the Gobi Desert" and "Improvement of Water-Saving Irrigation Devices"...
She only half understood what she was reading.
"Section Chief, I'm afraid I won't be able to draw these technical things clearly," she said honestly.
"It's alright," the section chief said. "You just coordinate with the people in the technical department. They'll explain it clearly, and you just need to draw it out. Make sure the drawing is easy for people who don't understand the technology to get a general idea. The key is that it's intuitive and clear."
He pointed to one of them: "For example, this one, the communication equipment improvement project that Comrade Bai Si'an is in charge of. Go to his lab and have him explain it to you."
Lin Weiwei was taken aback.
Go to Baisian's lab?
"Is there a problem?" the section chief asked.
"No!" Lin Weiwei immediately shook her head. "I guarantee I'll complete the mission."
"That's good. Go to the technical room today and familiarize yourself with it. Xiao Zhang, take Comrade Lin over there and coordinate with them," the section chief instructed.
Xiao Zhang responded and smiled slightly at Lin: "Comrade Lin, let's go."
The two left the propaganda department and headed towards the technical room at the back of the camp.
The technical room is a detached red brick bungalow with a sign hanging at the entrance; it's very quiet.
Xiao Zhang knocked on the door, and someone answered.
Pushing open the door, a mixture of engine oil, metal, and paper odor hit me.
The room was quite large, with several long tables piled with various parts, blueprints, and tools.
Several technicians in military uniforms were busy at work, some tightening screws, some looking at blueprints, and no one looked up.
"Is Engineer Li here?" Xiao Zhang asked.
A man in his forties, wearing glasses, stood up from behind a table further inside: "This is it. From the publicity department?"
"Yes." Xiao Zhang led Lin Weiwei to the front. "This is Comrade Lin Weiwei. The section chief asked her to help with the illustrations for the technical achievements. This is Engineer Li from the technical department."
Engineer Li glanced at Lin Weiwei and nodded, "Okay, I understand. Have you read all the project descriptions?"
"I've seen it, but I don't quite understand it," Lin Weiwei said honestly.
"That's normal. The person in charge of the project will explain it to you in a bit." As he spoke, Engineer Li called out into the room, "Technician Bai! Come here for a moment."
Lin Weiwei's heart skipped a beat.
Behind the table by the window, Bai Si'an looked up, saw her, adjusted his glasses, put down his tools, and walked over.
He was wearing a military uniform with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and his hands were stained with black grease.
"Technician Bai, this is Comrade Lin Weiwei from the Publicity Department. She's here to help you with the illustrations for your sandstorm resistance improvement project. Tell her what you want the illustrations to look like," Engineer Li explained briefly.
Bai Si'an nodded: "Okay."
Engineer Li went off to do something else.
Xiao Zhang said to Lin Weiwei, "Then Comrade Lin, you can stay here and coordinate for now. I have other work to do when I get back. You can go back to your department after you're done."
Xiao Zhang left, leaving only Lin Weiwei, Bai Si'an, and a few technicians working diligently in the room.
"Let's talk over at my place," Bai Si'an said, pointing to the table by the window.
Lin Weiwei followed him over.
