Chapter 41 Miyazawahara
Chapter 41 Miyazawahara
Thick carpets, ukiyo-e prints, and a faint scent of sandalwood.
The VIP area on the fifth floor remained as quiet as another world.
Yamada Masakazu led Kiryu Yaya to the door of the first VIP room.
Faint voices could be heard coming from inside the door.
Masakazu Yamada straightened his tie and knocked gently on the door.
"Please come in."
The voice of the branch manager of Matsumoto came from inside.
The door opened.
Kiryu Yaya followed Yamada Masakazu inside.
I saw Keiko Miyazawa at first glance.
Although he knew she would come to the bank today, Kiryu Yaya was still momentarily dazed when he actually saw her sitting in the branch manager's VIP reception room.
At this moment, Keiko Miyazawa is sitting on the sofa on the left.
She wore a perfectly tailored ivory white suit jacket over a light gray silk shirt, and her skirt fell neatly to her knees.
Unlike Saturday night when she was holding a teacup in the Shiraishi family's living room, her cheeks slightly flushed as she was teased by Shiraishi Ayako, she was now sitting upright with her shoulders and back straight.
That soft, student-like quality was put away.
Instead, there is a dignified demeanor that is not yet fully developed, but which is being actively maintained.
Like a flower that has just learned to bloom inside a glass dome.
When she saw Kiryu Yaya enter, she visibly relaxed, and her eyes softened considerably.
"Kiryu-kun."
Kiryu Yaya bowed slightly.
"Miyazawa-kun."
The second time he looked, he saw the man sitting next to Keiko Miyazawa.
He was in his forties, approaching fifty.
His hair was neatly combed, he wore silver-rimmed glasses, his suit was impeccably tailored, and his tie was a subdued color.
He had a gentle smile on his face and his posture was very natural.
That naturalness comes from the composure cultivated through years of frequenting conference rooms, banquets, and bank VIP lounges.
Kiryu Yaya bowed to the man.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Kiryu Yaya from the Financing Review Division."
When the branch manager of Matsumoto spoke, his tone was much gentler than usual.
"Kiryu-kun, let me introduce myself."
"This is Mr. Miyazawa Hara, Managing Director of the Miyazawa Group."
Miyazawa Hara.
Keiko Miyazawa's uncle.
Miyazawa, who had been sitting quietly, stood up at this moment.
His movements were composed, his smile warm. He first gave a slight bow to Kiryu Yaya before slowly speaking:
"Kiryu-kun, nice to meet you."
"Thank you for keeping Huizi company these past two days. Since her brother passed away, she has been putting on a brave face. She seems fine on the surface, but she is suffering more than anyone else inside. The fact that she took the initiative to ask her friends to go out has actually been a relief to me as her uncle."
friend.
outsider.
The boundaries are clearly drawn.
Kiryu Yaya clicked his tongue inwardly, but his face remained impassive:
"I just happened to spend a few words with her; it's not like I took care of her."
"It's not good for young people to be too modest."
Miyazawa smiled and raised his hand in greeting.
"Please have a seat."
The people in the room sat down again.
Kiryu Yaya sat on the side near the door, facing Miyazawa Keiko.
Her hands rested quietly on her knees, her fingertips interlaced.
Her posture was impeccably dignified.
For some reason, Kiryu Yaya felt that she was quieter today than on Saturday night.
The tea was served quickly.
The branch manager of Matsumoto picked up his teacup and smiled as he smoothed things over:
"I was a little surprised that Ms. Miyazawa specifically asked the receptionist to call Kiryu-kun up today."
"But I heard you were classmates and happened to have some contact with the Shiraishi family, so that makes sense."
"Our bank's business processes can sometimes be quite daunting for first-time users."
Keiko Miyazawa looked up and stared intently at Yaya Kiryu.
"Because there are many parts that I don't quite understand."
She paused for a moment.
"Kiryu-kun told me that if you don't understand something, you should ask, and never pretend to know what you don't. So I thought I'd take this opportunity to ask Kiryu-kun to teach me more."
The branch manager of Matsumoto smiled upon hearing this.
"If you don't understand, just ask. That's a very useful saying in the banking industry."
Miyazawa Hara also laughed.
"I see."
He looked at Kiryu Yaya, his gaze behind his glasses still gentle.
"It seems that Kiryu-kun is not only excellent at his work, but also very good at taking care of the mindset of young people."
When talking about "excelling at work", he gently looked at the branch manager of Matsumoto.
Matsumoto Takahiro, as expected, picked up the conversation, his admiration evident in his expression:
"Kiryu-kun has indeed been performing quite well at the branch office lately."
"In the Fuji Metals case, if he hadn't discovered the suspicious points, we would have almost released a considerable amount of bad debt."
Miyazawa Hara's eyebrows twitched almost imperceptibly.
"Oh?"
He turned to look at Kiryu Yaya.
"It's truly remarkable that someone so young can gain the favor of both the Matsumoto branch manager and Section Chief Yamada."
"Graduating from the University of Tokyo and working in financing review at Mitsubishi Bank, his future is limitless."
The words sound like praise.
For some reason, Kiryu Yaya sensed a hint of scrutiny in his voice.
Seiji Shiraishi's words resurfaced in his mind once again.
The fastest runner isn't necessarily the safest.
Keiko Miyazawa seemed to sense the invisible tension in the room, raised her head, and said softly:
"Actually, I called Kiryu-kun over today because my uncle and the branch manager of Matsumoto were talking about account permissions and confirming a few documents, and I have some questions about that—"
"Huizi".
Before she could finish speaking, Miyazawa Hara gently took over.
He turned his head and said to her in an almost indulgent tone:
"Let's confirm the bank account and follow-up procedures today."
"Your uncle will explain the specific business matters to you gradually when you get home."
"You've already worked hard enough these past two days. We can't just dump all the company's problems on a new bank employee, can we?"
His tone was considerate and tactful, even carrying a hint of elder-like affection.
The branch manager of Matsumoto simply smiled and didn't interrupt.
Keiko Miyazawa was silent for two seconds.
"……Um."
She lowered her head and answered.
The atmosphere in the room remained respectable.
Still mild.
No one could find a single fault with it.
But Kiryu Yaya's unease became even clearer.
Just then, Miyazawa Hara seemed to suddenly remember something, took out a business card from his suit pocket, and handed it over with both hands.
"By the way, Kiryu-kun."
"If Keiko ever troubles you with bank procedures again in the future, please bear with me."
"However, I will most likely be the one to handle the group's operations and liaise with the banks from now on."
"After all, Keiko is still young and has just graduated from school. There are many things she doesn't understand."
"My brother left in a hurry, and as his uncle, I must shield him from the storms ahead."
"We'll ask for your advice when we have formal business dealings in the future."
Miyazawa Hara.
Executive Director of the Miyazawa Group.
The font on the business card is understated yet sophisticated, the paper is thick, and the edges are embossed with a very faint dark gold pattern.
Kiryu Yaya reached out and took it.
I gently stroked the surface of the business card with my fingertips.
He simply said calmly:
Please take care of me.
"Not at all, we should be the ones asking for your kind consideration."
Miyazawa smiled gently.
The next second, a semi-transparent interface silently appeared in front of Kiryu Yaya.
The Banker's Eye!
